1st Day of School in Washington

Minutes from our 1st video conference (which lasted 90 minutes - ack!, and yay!)

• Some of Danielle's new friends: Chloe, from US and France, Camilla (crazy), Moussa??
• Got to school at 8 am , Homeroom / Main team - Mara Miron??, 2 periods
• Then History & Geography, then Math, then Lunch, then 2 periods of gym, played v-ball & soccer
• Gaby's Main Teacher - Madame Lazare.  She's ok.  short & not blond hair
• Free period coz Gaby needed to choose between Advanced Eng, Latin or Spanish.  Will probably take English
• Then 2 hours of gym
• Danielle test on Thurs to find out which English class she'll be in
• No Latin for Danielle (yay!), just Spanish
• Middle school is from 6e to 3e (or Grade 6 to Grade 9)
• Carnet to Correspondance = "Bridge between School and Home" - Danielle made that up!
• Kids to send me copies of their school schedule, which are Monday to Friday, up to 8 periods per day (not including lunch).  Danielle has classes until 5:30 on Monday & Tuesday and alternate Wednesday, other days and Gaby until 3:30
• 8:30 classes start, 7:10 bus, 6 am wakeup (ack!)
• Danielle's music teacher, Mr Brown, has long hair in a pony tail, and will be teaching Music History
• Gaby heard her music teacher is super strict, she'll be learning recorder (boring!)
• Today, Gaby met: Maureen, Mary-Anne, some guy - new kids at the school
• Danielle sent me pictures of the house - can you post on Skydrive so I can make comments on them?
• On the weekend, the girls are going to a private Pool on a Roof of an apartment building - sounds cool!  Then Six Flags in Baltimore with an aquarium
• Danielle is in 4e annee groupe 2
• Gaby is in 6e 2
• Danielle will sign up for a Theatre class in January - try to send me the name of the theatre school so I can look it up
• Gaby starts "Duck Pin" Bowling on Saturday at 9:30 - 10 little pins with 5 pin balls.  There are no computers so you score by hand.
• On field trips, kids need to wear a school uniform: black/navy pants or skirt, button up shirt, and tie with the school logo - I want a picture the 1st time you wear the uniform!
• Gym uniform is grey school t-shirt and bluesweatpants (haha, it could have been black :-)
• Kohl's
• Uggs
• Gaby's gym teacher is M. Cho, and he lets people speak English in class.
• DSW Shoe Warehouse!
• Talk again next Thursday at 7:30.  I will send an e-mail if I can get a video conference from the cottage
• Danielle wants to read the Illiad & the Odessey (I can't spell these properly)

• Goodnight Little Girls, Thank the Lord you are well
• Now go to sleep said Miss Clavell
• Then she turned out the light
• And she closed the door

• There isn't anymore

Minutes are kinda boring to read, but are easy to write.  And mostly, they are just to remind us of the things we talked about.  Feel free to write or try anything you want on this blog.  Right now, only Naomi, Gaby & Danielle can see it, but if it's working, I'll share it with Kevin & Grandma & Dan & Connie.
